About KH Reader

Questions people ask, answered.

What is KH Reader?

The whole Kingdom Hearts story, retold as a novel. Every entry follows what happens on screen in the games, told as prose, from the Master of Masters and his Book of Prophecies to the end of Melody of Memory.

Which book should I read first?

If you are new to the series, or want the twists to land the way they did for players, start with the Release Order Book. It tells the story in the order the games came out, beginning with Kingdom Hearts in 2002.

If you already know the games, or want the story as one continuous history, read the Chronological Book: the same story in the order it happens.

Are the two books different stories?

No. They are made of the same chapters, arranged differently. The Release Order Book changes a few small details so it never reveals something before the games did.

What is the Companion Guide?

An optional read after each entry: its terms, characters, open questions and fun facts. Each section only covers what that entry has shown, so it is safe to read as you go. Read only the sections for entries you have finished.

Does it remember where I stopped?

Yes. Your browser remembers your place in each book, and a Continue reading link appears at the top of the site. If you are signed in to the forum, your place is saved to your account too, so it follows you to your other devices. Entries you finish while signed in count toward your reading badges.

Can I make the text bigger?

On any book or Companion page, press Aa Text in the reading tools (inside Menu on phones). You can change the text size and line spacing, switch to a plain font or OpenDyslexic, and choose a sepia page. The Theme button switches between light and dark.

Can I find a certain moment?

Use Search to look for any name, place or line in either book (pick which one); it can hide results from entries you have not read yet. The timeline shows every entry in story order or release order.

Can I read it offline, like an app?

Yes. On an iPhone, open khreader.com in Safari, press Share, then Add to Home Screen. On Android, open it in Chrome and choose Install app or Add to Home screen. Pages you have opened stay readable without a connection.

How do I join the forum?

Go to the forum and choose Create one. You need an email address to confirm your account, and you must be 13 or older and agree to the forum rules.

What do you keep about me?

Very little, and nothing is sold or used for ads. The privacy page explains exactly what is kept and how to remove it.

Is this official?

No. KH Reader is an unofficial fan project, free to read, not for sale, and not affiliated with or endorsed by Disney or Square Enix. Kingdom Hearts and its characters, images and dialogue belong to their owners.
